FAQs.
Welcome to the FAQs page.
How can I find what you have done with my report?
HMRC is not allowed to give feedback on specific cases. The reason for this is that we have to follow a strict law of confidentiality. This law covers all the work our department does. It does not let us disclose to you any information about the affairs of a particular individual or company. But we treat the information provided very seriously and we do look into all the information we get.
Will my information be passed on to anyone else?
We work in close partnership with other government departments, agencies and organisations such as the police & customs organisations worldwide. If the information you have given is relevant to any of our partners, we may pass it on but we will NOT pass on your name. This remains confidential.
Why has nothing been done with the information I gave you some time ago?
All information provided via the Hotlines is examined and passed to an appropriate team for action. Sometimes the information will form part of a larger picture and needs to be considered in that context. In these circumstances it will not always be evident that action has been or is being taken. The process is not always immediate. For legal & operational reasons we cannot divulge the exact nature of our enquiries nor the results of those enquiries. We do appreciate the contact and the information provided.
